Colorspace assign palette pieces to positions on the screen. Similar to TileSets, Colorspaces divide up the field in a grid-like fashion, into elements called cells
. Each cell
has its own palette, or some piece of the palette, and is only allowed to use those colors within the cell
.
Colorspaces, generally speaking, do not provide additional expressive power. Rather, they help to accurately immitate how retro graphics work. Such restrictions that may lead to inspiration or perhaps a feeling of authenticity for those seeking it.
Effects that color cycle only part of the scene at a time can be simplified by employing colorspaces.
